Of all American wars remembered, one especially relevant today is the First Barbary War (1801-1805) between a young United States of America and Islamic hordes of North Africa. During the First Barbary War, Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman, a representative of the Islamic empire in Tripoli, explained the motivation of North African Muslims who were assaulting unarmed European and American ships in the Mediterranean:

“It is written in the Koran, that all nations which had not acknowledged the Prophet Muhammad are sinners, whom it was the right and duty of the [Muslim] faithful to plunder and enslave; and that every Muslim who was slain in this warfare was sure to go to paradise.”(1)

More recently, there are cases of Islamic leaders bestowing explicit blessings on whomever delivers Salman Rushdie’s and Ayaan Hirsi Ali’s heads for essentially composing books that suggest the Quran is anything less than timeless perfection.(2,3) Right here in the US, we have David Yerushalmi’s “Mapping Sharia” project that exposed 75% of all American mosques as places of explicit jihadist incitation.(4)

I can understand one or two bad apples in the bunch giving a bad name to a good brand; in that case unflattering sweeping statements wouldn’t be warranted. However, when we’re looking at three out of four, it’s a different ballgame. Negative stereotypes, dirty looks, and profiling by security are perfectly logical. Unpleasant generalizations by officials and the general population are a rational and inevitable response to Islamic devotees’ behavior.

If guided purely by Quranic injunction and Mohammed’s example, a person’s demeanor is a one-dimensional endorsement of discrimination, sexism, and hatred of non-Muslim peoples, governments, and cultures.(5, 6, 7)

Few other conclusions can be drawn when there is nothing to abrogate, override, or otherwise circumscribe the following Quranic verses incumbent upon believing Muslims indefinitely:

Chapter 8, v. 55 - Surely the vilest of animals in Allah's sight are those who disbelieve

Chapter 48, v. 29 - Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. And those with him are hard (ruthless) against the disbelievers and merciful among themselves

Chapter 8, v. 12 - I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them

Chapter 9, v. 123 - O you who believe! Fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness

A pattern emerges upon increased devotion to Islam. Upon sufficient imitation of Mohammed’s example and Quranic injunction, a good person mutates into a twisted half-enemy and half-citizen personality. We encounter this personality where the reality of Islamic influence shows itself in brief teasers.(9, 10,11)

Mao said, "Revolutionaries must swim as the fish in the sea of the populace".

Jihadis are the revolutionaries, but remember that extremists don’t exist in a vacuum. Sharp questions and honest debate must not be withheld. Political correctness or tiptoeing around “sensitivities" is not warranted. There is no call for post-colonial guilt, white guilt, liberal guilt, etc…

Muslims, "moderate" and otherwise, must account for their religion and the unique evil that devotion to Islam spawns today and in the past, all the way back to the violent, disgusting characteristics and actions of Islam’s founder—Mohammed. Meditate on the following if you disagree:

"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached". Pope Benedict in 2006, quoting Emperor Manuel Aleologos II.(12)

"Allah’s Messenger said, ‘Who is ready to kill Ashraf? He has said injurious things about Allah and His Apostle.’ [Referring to himself as Allah’s Apostle] Maslama got up saying, ‘Would you like me to kill him?’ The Prophet proclaimed, 'Yes.'" (13)

“The Prophet said, ‘If a Muslim discards his religion, kill him.” (14)

“Burn all those who had not left their houses for the prayer, burn them alive inside their homes.” (15)
