A Few Questions to Dr Zakir Naik on Islam

- In one session of his lectures, Dr Naik has tried to explain why the all-knowing Allah has granted polygamy to his followers. He says that, in many countries in the world women over populate men and that is the reason the most merciful Allah has ordained polygamy, so that every woman may have the opportunity to get a husband to marry. The audience, mostly Muslim blockheads, became fully satisfied with his explanation, felt proud of the wisdom of Allah and became hilarious. But none of the audience asked him that there are many countries, (e.g. today’s China and also the Indian states of Punjab and Haryana, to name a few) where men overpopulate women and why the all knowing and all observing Allah did not ordain polyandry for them. The incident reminded me a popular Bengali proverb that says – In an assembly of donkeys, a mule is respected as a wise pundit.
I have said earlier that I have several video CDs containing lectures of Dr Zakir Naik and in two of them, the learned scholar has tried to establish similarities between Hinduism and Islam. The first CD begins with the pictures of distant galaxies taken by NASA with the help of the Hubble Space Telescope, as if Allah, the creator of heaven and earth, has created those galaxies within 6 days of his creation. On the contrary, the wisdom of Allah, as reflected in the Koran, compels one to believe that Allah was ignorant of the real nature the sun, the moon, the stars and the planets and other celestial bodies, not to speak of the distant galaxies and other heavenly bodies which cannot be seen with the naked eye. This becomes evident when Allah says that on the Day of Last Judgment or Qiyamah, he will bring the sun very close, only a mile away, to the earth. According to modern science, these galaxies were formed billions of years ago and perhaps Allah had no existence in such a distant past.
Another point, I would like to point out at the outset of this present writing. At first sight it appeared to me that Dr Zakir Naik is a great scholar. But later on, I could discover that Dr Naik is simply a model. We see models, normally good looking young women, in various video ads for promoting sales of various commodities. In some ads, models say, “This is the best tooth-paste in the world and all other pastes are not only bad but harmful”. In some ads, these models say, “This is the best detergent in the market and all other detergents are bad and harmful”. In a similar manner, the rich Arabs are making video ads for selling Islam using Dr Zakir Naik as the model (for which he is perhaps fabulously paid). His task is to establish, by highlighting something, by suppressing something, by telling lies or by any other mischief that Islam is best religion on the surface of the earth, Allah is the only true god and the Koran is the best religious text world has ever seen, with the sole purpose of promoting the sale of Islam.
However, while Dr Naik delivers his lectures, he appears to be very happy. His happiness, perhaps, arises out of two reasons. Firstly, the job keeps his pocket healthy in this world. Secondly, due to the prospect of securing a place in the best quarters of Allah’s Paradise in his next life, for his sincere service to Allah, where he will get 1.6807 billion beautiful Houris and a few million slave girls for satiation of infinite lust; and 80,000 young slave boys for doing sodomy (see this author’s article Destination: Allah’s Brothel). In this context, one should recall that a single coitus with the heavenly damsels or houris would last 600 years and hence it will take 1.00842 trillion years for Dr Zakir Naik to do justice to all the 1.6807 billion houris, not to speak of the slave girls and slave boys.
However, the said advice of the reader of my article inspired me to come out of my rat-hole and face Dr Zakir Naik—the ocean of wisdom. And it is that inspiration that led me to place some queries before him. In this submission, I proceed to ask Dr Zakir Naik a few questions which are tormenting me from the very day I have gone through the Islamic scriptures and hope Dr Naik will try to satisfy me with his enlightened replies.
Question No. 1:
Islamic scriptures say that Allah has created this heaven and earth, from nothingness, within six days and on the seventh day he created Adam, the first human being; and Prophet Muhammad was the 90th descendant of Adam. According to my calculation, considering 30 years to be the age difference between two successive generations, Allah created this heaven and earth only 4,137 years ago. On the contrary, geological experts say that the earth is more than 3 billion years old. So, I request the wisdom of Dr Zakir Naik to enlighten me in this matter.
Question 2:
Islamic scriptures do not say what Allah was doing before creating this heaven and earth. Was Allah jobless before his creation? Or more pointedly, did Allah exist before creation? I hope that Dr Naik will enlighten me in this matter also.
Question 3:
According to Islamic faith, Allah creates everything from nothingness. If Allah desires something to create, He utters the Arabic word “kun” (or let it be) and then and then the desired thing gets shape. But it is really difficult to comprehend why Allah created Adam with clay. I therefore request Dr Naik to explain, why Allah did not create Adam from nothingness?
Question 4:
According to the Koran, Allah created water first and placed solid earth on water and to keep the unstable earth firm, he created mountains as nails (21:26). The Allah created the sky as a solid roof to cover the earth, which he has been able to fix in position without pillars by his extraordinary miraculous power or qudrah (31:10). And over this solid sky, he created seven heavens (38:27). Obviously, the sun, the moon and the stars are lying below the solid roof. Scriptures also says that, on the Day of Last Judgment, Allah will destroy this solid sky and the debris will fall upon the earth. My humble question, how the angel Zibrail managed to travel between heaven and earth and succeeded to create a passage through that solid roof (called the sky), to meet the Prophet and enlighten him with the verses of the Holy Koran? Has Allah made a secret hole in the solid sky for his convenience? And did the Prophet, during his journey to heaven (meraj) utilize the same hole? I request Dr Naik to enlighten me on this matter.
Question 5:
It is said that Ferista Zibrail used to carry a divine edition of the Koran from heaven and read a certain passage from that divine edition of the book to the Prophet and that is the reason the Koran is called ohi-e-matlu or “read revelation”. There is no doubt that the first lesson of the holy Koran, or first five verses of 96th Sura (or Sura Clots of Blood) was revealed on the night of Sab-e-qadr, on 27th Ramadhan in 610 AD. Scholars agree that the 182nd verse of Sura Cow (the 2nd Sura) was the closing verse of the holy Koran, that reads “Howbeit he who apprehendeth from the testator any mistake or injustice, and shall compose the matter between them, that shall be no crime in him, for Allah is gracious and merciful”, while the Prophet was lying on his death-bed (tr by George Sale). But the scriptures do not give any clue that the divine edition of the book came to an end with the revelation of the verse (2: 182). Furthermore, the very nature of the text of this verse appears that it cannot be the parting word of Almighty God. On the other, if the Prophet had the chance to live a few more years, it is certain that he have revealed many more suras of the holy Koran. So it makes one skeptical that the divine edition of the Koran was not ended with the revelation of the said verse (2: 182). Or in other words, Allah could not convey his entire message to the mankind. So it is a matter of speculation, how much of the divine Koran remained unrevealed.
It would have been wise for Allah to send another messenger after Nuhannad to transmit the remaining part of the holy Koran. But why did the Almighty Allah deprive the humanity from the remaining part of his message by deciding not to send any other messenger after Muhammad?
Question 6:
It is not easy for a commoner to comprehend, what made Allah to decide that he would not send any other prophet after Muhammad. This decision of Allah would have been compatible if he would have kept the human civilization stagnant as it was in Arabia 1400 years ago. But it seems to be hopelessly unintelligible why Allah had allowed human society to advance but not to update his message accordingly? Does it not reflect utter lack of intelligence and experience of all knowing Allah?
Question 7:
According to the Koran, on the Day of Last Judgment (or Qiyamah), Allah will raise everyone from his grave to assess his/her deeds in this world. For the merit of surrendering to Allah’s Koran and Allah’s messenger Muhammad, all the Muslims will enter Allah’s paradise and all the kafirs, for their offence of refusing Allah’s Koran and Allah’s messenger, will be thrown in Hell fire. So, it is obvious that before Qiyamah, both the heaven and the hell would remain desolate. But the Prophet, during his journey to heaven (meraj), saw both heaven and hell crowded with people. He saw his uncle Abu Taleb and many other kafirs to perish in the Hell-fire. He also observed Amr bin Luhayy bin Qama, brother of Bani Ka’b, dragging his intestines in Hell-fire (SM:6838), for the sin of introducing idolatry in Arabia. The Prophet had also seen that most of the inmates of the paradise were poor people and most of the inmates of the Hell were women. One should not have any doubt about the narrations of Allah’s messenger, as it was not possible for him to tell lies. Moreover, there remains not even an iota of doubt about these narrations as they were duly endorsed by Allah in the glorious Koran (17: 1). But my question, how these people slipped into the heaven and in hell before Qiyamah?
Question 8:
Allah says that on the Last Day or Qiyamah he will raise everyone from grave. But the scriptures do not provide any clue, how Allah will raise those who, in stead of burying, cremate their dead? Perhaps Dr Naik will enlighten me in this matter.
Question 9:
Allah dislikes any kind deformation of his creation. In the pre-Islamic days, Arabs used to slit the ears of their cattle and Allah has rebuked them and threatened them with severe punishments for tampering with his creation by revealing the verse (4: 119) of the holy Koran. It is therefore really amazing how Allah is tolerating the deformation of his dearest believers who are tampering them through circumcision?
Question 10.
Allah says that on the day of Last Judgment, he will raise people bare-footed, naked and uncircumcised. So it appears that Allah detests circumcision. So, why the male believers (also female believers in some parts of the world) are performing circumcision?
For the time being, I restrict myself within these ten questions and hope to come with more such queries in future.

Regarding Question 1: Where did you get the information that God created Adam on 7th day? Perhaps you are mixing up the narration about God resting on the 7th day as mentioned in Old and New testament. Where did you find the story about 90th descendent? During the so-called Golden Age the Califat of Bagdad employed many christian, zoroastrian and jewish scholars, and they received also much knowledge even from India and China. However, in modern times the share of islamic coutries on the field of scíence is close to zero.They are also behind in arts, literature, sports, economics and technology. I think one very large problem of islam is that the teaching from the quran and the hadith are so unclear that there are many opinions and it is impossible to find an agreement. There are sunni and shia muslims, many sects and many scholars and nobody agrees with the other. Islam makes everything so difficult.

Kaabaa is central to islam and is considered the 'house of Allaah' ,which is the reason that muslims are to go on 'haj' (one of the five pillars of islam) and circumambulate the black stone seven times and kiss the black stone! It is like saying that when you see a 'milestone and indicator' on the highway showing you direction ,you have to go round in circles around that milestone and then kiss it in gratitude! "Look at Pakistan today...." ---- Wake up pal. India is worse. Recently visited india on a business trip and saw the poorest place after Maxico, Thailand and Philippines. People sleeping on the street sides and cows and shit everywhere. Prostitution and poverty is on highest. Per an Inian film producer when asked, "how come you always shoot your pictures abroad and pretend with such pretty places as if they were India?", his answer was --- "we show people a beautiful dream for couple for hours". Pakistan is on the rise and booming (Check www.pitchpakistan.com). After living 10 years in UK, I returned to Pakistan and enjoying the quality of life I always missed in the west. Will never go back. Let me put it this way, west has "marketed" them better. We Muslims need to catch up with the media and propaganda better.

Hindu, Buddhist & Sikh groups would have no difficulty to bring lawsuits for banning Quran on the ground that it incites religious violence and killings. Such a lawsuit was brought in Calcutta High Court around 1870. The Muslim defence was Bible is equally (if not more) violent & must be banned if Quran is banned. The Calcutta High Court shelved this case on some pretext. Kafir, this remains the primary hurdle and is allowing the Muslims to inflict pain and suffering on non-Muslims with impunity. However, I sincerely urge the Buddhist, Hindu, Sikh groups in every country to bring class action lawsuits to ban Quran. This will test the secular nature of their constitutions. At the least, it will create an extremely useful concensus about bastard Islam.

Islam has a set of beliefs totally at variance with justice, fairness and equality. But anybody can believe in the most ridiculous things if it is a private matter and do not infringe on the rights of others. Islam, of course,fails grievously in this respect. No scientific temper can be built under such conditions and science and technology have to take a back seat 5) Uncontrolled population growth advocated by the religious leaders 6) The numerous Islamic impediments to flowering of the human imagination calling everything 'haram' 7) Unhealthy practices like child marriage, hijab, inbreeding, circumcision, polygamy and fasting all of which can give rise to increased demands on the medical system 8) Low level of literacy which is conducive to blind acceptance of unscientific and illogical unscientific practices. It is possible that the religious leaders have a vested interest in keeping the masses illiterate.

Islam is growing because of increase population due to higher birth rate and not because of conversions to islam. The percentage of people changing their faiths is miniscule (tiny) compared to the growth in human population. Most islamic nations belong to the third world where population growth is highest. Also higher population does not automatically mean and advantage. If that was the case why is it that a small community of jews is holding onto territory in the face of fierce islamic opposition? You may say that it is due to outside help? why is it that such a small percentage of jews have more influence than a billion arabs? A larger population is not an advantage if that population is not industrially and technologically advanced. You went on distorting the Quran. Let me give you a brief description Sura 2(Baqara)- While Islams was establishing, with definite centre and symbol, ordinances were laid down for the social life of the communinity, with the proviso that righteousness does not consist in formalties, but in faith, kindness, probity, and patience under suffering. The ordinances relate food and drink, bequest, fast, Jihad ( striving ), treatment of ophens and women etc… (Sura2:168-242) The subject of jihad ( striving ) is misunderstood. It is taken up again in the strory of Saul, Goliath And David, in contrast the story of Jesus (Sura 2:243-253) And so the lesson is enforced that true virtue lies in practical deeds of manliness, kindness and good faith (Sura 2:254-283) and gods nature is called to mind. The sura ends with an exhortation to faith, obedience, a sence of personal responsibility and prayer. (Sura 2:284-286) When faith is lost, people put off obedience with various excuses, even when at last they obey in the latter, they fail in the spirit, which means that they get fossilized and their selfsufficiency prevents them from seeing that spiritually they are not alive but dead. For life is movement, activity, striving, fighting against baser things and this the burden. (Sura 2:3) All bounties proceed from God, They may be physical gifts e.g Food, clothing, houses, gardens, wealth etc. or spiritual gifts e.g insight in to good and evil. Understanding of men, the capacity to love etc.. We are to use all humility and moderation. But we are also to give out of every one of them something that contributes to the well being of others. We are to be neither ascetics rior luxurious sybarites, neither selfish mises nor thoughtless prodigals. (Sura 2:190) War is only permissible in self-defense and under well defined limits. When undertaken it must be pushed with vigour, but not relentlessly, but only to restore peace and freedom for the worship of god. In any case strict limits must not be transgressed. Woman, children, old and infirm men should not be molested nor trees and crops cut down, nor peace withheld when the enemy comes to terms. This passage (Sura 2) is illustrated by the events that happened at Hudaibiya in the 6th year of the hijra, the muslims were by this time growing strong and establishing an influencial community. Many of them were exiles from Mecca where the Pagans Arabs had established an intolerant autocracy, persecuting muslims, preventing them from visiting their homes and even keeping them out by force from performing the pilgrimage during the universally recognized period of truce. This was intolerance, oppression and autocracy to the last degree and mere readiness of the muslims to enforce their rights as Arab citizens resulted without bloodshed in an agreement which the muslims faithfully observed. The Pagan Arabs, however, had no scruples in breaking faith and its unnecessary here to go in to subsequents events. Suppress faith: in the narrow as well as the larger sence, if they want to forcibly to prevent you from excercising your sacred rites, they have declared war on your religion, and it would be cowardice to ignore the challenge or to fail in rooting out tyranny. (Sura 2:193) Justice and faith, The Arabic word is “Din” which is comprehensive, It implies the ideas of indebtness, duty, obedience, judgement, justice, faith, religion, customary rights etc.. The clause means until there is justice and faith for God. If the opposite party cease to persecute you, your hostility ends with them as a party, but it does not mean that you become friends to oppression, your fight is against wrong, there should be no rancour against men. (Sura 2:194) Force is a dangerous weapon. It may have to be used for self defence or self preservation but we must always remember that self restraint is pleasing in the eyes of God, Even when we are fighting it should be for a principle, not out of passion. Any futher clarifications of any sura from the Quraan are welcome.

True Islam/Muslim mullahs: Mullahs across the world decry the watering down of the koran when it comes to passages that clearly talk of destroying the infidel. If one wants to insert a special circumstance to the surahs that clearly talk of slaying the infidel then they need to do that for the whole koran whenever it says anything they don't like. Mohammed knew very well what he was saying: he even had infidels killed in front of their wives and tortured infidels as well. THIS "MUSLIM" who writes of watering down the koran when it CLEARLY DEPICTS OF SLAYING THE INFIDEL SEEMS TO THINK HE KNOWS MORE THAN HIS OWN MULLAHS DO AND OWES THE MUSLIM WORLD AN APOLOGY!
