Influence of Prophet Muhammad and the Quran on Incest in Muslim Societies

- The
mode of Afazuddin's receiving Allah's divine instruction is
not known. Allah used to adopt
various means to communicate his divine instructions to Prophet
Mohammad. When at the age of 52, the Prophet decided to marry
Aisha, a child of 6, Allah sent his divine sanction in the form of
dreams. For three consecutive nights, angel Zibrail (Gabriel) showed a picture of Aisha and said, "This is your
wife." For the first two nights, the Prophet could not recognize
whose picture it was. But in the third night, he could
recognize beyond doubt that it was Aisha's. So he had no other
alternative but to carry out Allah's divine will as soon as
possible. So he married Aisha in Medina in the first year of Hijri,
even defying Aisha's father Abu Bakr's initial opposition, because
Muhammad was like a father to Aisha.
In the fifth year of Hijri, the Prophet—while peeping into the house of his adopted son Zeid—saw latter's newly-married wife Jainab naked and become so aroused that he had to rush home to quickly sleep with one of his many wives to cool himself down. Nonetheless, the Prophet because love-stricken by her beauty. But marrying daughters-in-law were considered incestuous, which was not well-accepted in the Arab society. The most merciful Allah—always ready to make His beloved Prophet's every desire a reality—realized that Muhammad needed a divine sanction to defend himself from public scandal if he married her. So, without wasting time, Allah sent Zibrail with verse 33:37 of the Koran that reads:
"....You sought to hide in your heart what Allah was to reveal. You were afraid of man, although it would have been more proper to fear Allah. And when Zeid divorced his wife, We gave her to you in marriage, so that it should become legitimate for true believers to wed the wives of their adopted sons if they divorced them. Allah's will must needs to be done".
Realizing that this verse was inadequate to protect the Prophet as public scandal broke out, Allah revealed another verse, namely 33:38 to defend him:
"No blame shall be attached to the Prophet for doing what is sanctioned for him by Allah. ....."
The Prophet, a deeply religious man, evidently never proceeded with his mission without a sanction from Allah, be it marrying a new wife, or carrying out a raid in a kafir settlement, or to massacre kafir tribes. And Allah was ever ready to assist the Prophet with divine sanctions for the smooth-sailing of the his every design. For example, when more and more younger wives were inducted into the Prophet's harem and he desired to spend more time with the younger ones, Allah quickly sent divine sanction (Koran 33:51), which allowed him to set aside the elderly wives and take younger ones to bed by revealing:
"You may put off any of your wives you please and take to your bed any of them you please. Nor is it unlawful for you to receive any of those whom you have temporarily set aside. That is more proper, so that they may be contended and not vexed, and may all be pleased with what you give them. Allah knows what is in your hearts. Surely Allah is all-knowing and gracious"
Furthermore, to make it easy for the Prophet to marry any woman and to keep any number of wives, Allah revealed:
"O Prophet, We have made lawful for you the wives to whom you have granted dowries and the slave-girls whom Allah has given you as booty; the daughters of your paternal and maternal aunts who fled with you; and any believing woman who gives herself to the Prophet and whom the Prophet wishes to take in marriage. This privilege is yours alone, being granted to no other believer" (Koran-33/50).
The similar was the case with Afazuddin's marriage with his
daughter. So, it would not be difficult for the reader to understand
what type of God is Allah and the real nature of Allah's sanctions.
Regarding the women, whom a Muslim man can marry, the Koran says,
"you shall not marry the women whom your fathers married: all previous such marriages excepted. That was an evil practice, indecent and abominable" (4:22).
"You are forbidden to marry your mothers, your daughters, your sisters, your paternal and maternal aunts, the daughters of your brothers and sisters, your foster-mothers, your foster-sisters, the mothers of your wives, your step-daughters who are in your charge, born of the wives with whom you have lain (it is no offence for you to marry your step-daughters if you have not consummated your marriage with their mothers), and the wives of your own begotten sons. You are also forbidden to take in marriage two sisters at one and the same time: all previous such marriages excepted. Surely Allah is forgiving and merciful." (4:23)
Allah continues,
"All women other than these are lawful for you provided you court them with your wealth in modest conduct, not in fornication. Give them their dowry for the enjoyment you have had of them as a duty. Surely Allah is all-knowing and wise" (4:24).
So it appears from the above verses of the Koran that, except a
few very near relations, Muslim men can marry all other women. Most of
all, Koran permits one marrying the step-daughters under one's care,
as well as daughters-in-law. Islam, like other Abrahamic creeds,
fundamentally agrees to incestuous relationship as the human race—hold these religions—started its journey from a single pair of
man and woman, namely Adam and Eve (Adam and Hawa in Islam). This
made marriage between brothers and sisters, the children of Adam and
Eve, inevitable.
We may now return to Afazuddin marrying his own daughter. In this
context, one should recall that Allah, through the verse 4:22 of the
Koran, has forbidden a Muslim from marrying his mother or his
step-mother. These facts—that Allah
sanctified marriage between step-daughters, daughters-in-laws and
that aged Muhammad had married his own daughter-in-law as well as
Aisha, his 6-year-old niece, who would be considered just like a
daughter in civilized society—undoubtedly shape
the Muslim morality and inspire them marrying close relatives, which
even sometimes break the blood-barrier set by Islam. Furthermore,
the Islamic sanction of polygamy, sex-slavery, temporary marriage
etc. create a distorted sexual sensuality in Muslim minds, which
undoubtedly contribute to deviant sexual relationship in Muslim
societies.
For example, a young Muslim man Shokin (22) from Uttar Pradesh eloped with his divorced
step-mother and married her in a Haryana court in June 2007. In a
similar manner, a young man from Murshibabad, West
Bengal, wanted to marry his widowed step-mother. When the Imam of
the local mosque gave green signal, he proceeded with his plan. But
a problem arose regarding the children of his new wife. So far they
used to address him as "elder brother" and the question arose: How
shall they address him now? The Imam advised that they must address
him now as "father".
Similarly, incidences of marriage between father and daughter are
also not very uncommon in Muslim society. Emperor Shahjahan was
extremely lecherous, who had greater than 5,000 women in his harem.
Though he did not officially marry his daughters, it becomes
evident from the writings of foreign travelers like Francois
Bernier, Sebastian Manrique, and Peter Mundi etc. that he had sexual
relation with his eldest daughter Jahanara and the youngest daughter
Chamni Begum. To defend him, the Emperor used to say that it was the
privilege of the planter of a tree to taste its first fruit.
According to a news appeared in Bartaman, a Kolkata-based Bengali
daily, on 28 June 1994 that Anisur Rahman, a resident of the
district of 24-Parganas in West Bengal eloped with his own
17-year-old daughter and presented her as his wife. Meanwhile,
Anisur's wife lodged a complaint with the local police station and
when the police arrested him and brought him back to his village,
his daughter was found to be pregnant.
Let me conclude that the present Muslim societies continue to fall pray to the model of sexual depravity that the duo of Allah and His Prophet had established in the 7th-century Arabia. These example of deviant sexual behaviors have great deal of similarity with how the Prophet of Islam used to exploit Allah, whenever he had a desire, which the-then Arab morality disapproved.

However Islam justifies, every crime in the book. According to Muhammad's made-up collection of nonsense and fairy tales the Quran, Muslim males are only allowed to take more than one wife if they are all treated equally and fairly. What many Muslims do not know is the shocking fate of his second wife Sauda. He married this widow in Mecca after the death of Khatija to care for him and his 4 young daughters. Later in Medina when she had aged and lost her looks, he now wanted to divorce her because he had all these younger and prettier women. Poor Sauda was forced to beg and plead with the heartless Muhammad to not divorce her. He only granted her wish with the condition that Ayesha be given her nights with him so that he wouldn't have to sleep with her ever again. As a result of this, Sauda was treated with contempt by all, even by Omar. So here we have the "perfect man" giving us a practical example of how to treat all wives equally and fairly. He even favored Ayesha above all his other wives. Ah yes, this is equality and fairness Islamic style.

Psychologists tell us that children who do not know their parents, especially their father undergo severe mental trauma and disturbances. Often they have an unhappy childhood. It is for this reason that the children of prostitutes do not have a healthy childhood. If a child born of such wedlock is admitted in school, and when the mother is asked the name of the father, she would have to give two or more names! I am aware that recent advances in science have made it possible for both the mother and father to be identified with the help of genetic testing. Thus this point which was applicable for the past may not be applicable for the present.Biologically, it is easier for a man to perform his duties as a husband despite having several wives. A woman, in a similar position, having several husbands, will not find it possible to perform her duties as a wife. Mr Allahu Alam. Youu can't spot the basic differnece. The episode of Mahabharata you are pointing was meant for mankind as a lesson to desist from such practises and not to emulate them. In case of Prophet Muhammad(PBUH) it is exactly the reverse.Never would you find a polyandry being justified on the basis of Mahabharat but in Islam every cruel and evil practises can be justified on the basis of Sunnah. So you can justify marriage between a 54 year male and 6 year old female( ghosh she should not even be called a female but a kid only)
