When Mohammed Atta came ashore with the 5^th Marines at Iwo Jima and helped raise the flag on Mount Suribachi no one gave him any credit. When Hani Hanjour in his Piper Cub shot down four ME-109s over Anzio in the winter of ’44 no one gave him any credit. When Saeed al-Ghamdi littered the banks of the Matanikau River on Guadalcanal with thousands of mosquitoes no one gave him any credit. When Ramzi bin al-Shibh planned the invasion of an unnamed and unknown island in the Pacific no one gave him any credit. Shunned by Patton, forgotten by Eisenhower, ignored by FDR, the Rodney Dangerfields of the Second World War—Allahu akbar—will at long last receive credit for their unparalleled feats of bravery and patriotism. The Muslim American Veterans Association will lay a wreath at the National World War II monument to honor American Muslims and others who served in that conflict.

Who? The Muslim American Veterans Association…they’re not as well known as the VFW or the American Legion and they’ve only been around since 1997 when they were organized and certified by the government. Wait a minute! Wait a minute! World War Two ended in 1945! That’s 52 years! What took them so long? Patton is gone; Eisenhower is gone; FDR is gone. So are Audie Murphy and Bob Hope. Are they serious? How many of them are there? They’ve been in business ten years now and their official website has recorded two hits! Do any of these guys know the words to I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandy?

Please take the H. G. Wells Time Machine back to the Big One and if you see any Molochs don’t be surprised. In 1943, Heinrich Himmler organized the 13^th Waffen SS Handschar Division and in 1944, he organized the 21^st Waffen SS Skanderberg Division and the 23^rd Waffen SS Kama Division. The 13^th was composed of Bosnian Muslims, the 21^st of Albanian Muslims and the 23^rd of Croatian Muslims.

Himmler had many illusions. He saw himself as a sort of modern-day Genghis Khan. He had great plans for his little Balkan army but nothing seemed to go right. His protégés gained a reputation for mutinous behavior and spent more time slaughtering Christian dogs than repelling Russian invaders. Himmler had the enthusiastic support of the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem. There were parades, speeches; tours of concentration camps—plenty of photo ops with Der Fuhrer. Such a heady atmosphere…life was great on the Unter den Linden. And then came Kursk and Normandy. How many Muslims served in the Waffen SS? Just a guess: More than served in the US Armed Forces circa. 1939-45.

On June 6, 2006, Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England spoke at the dedication of the Islamic Prayer Center at the US Marine Corps Base at Quantico, Virginia. There in no Coptic Christian or Assyrian Christian prayer center at Quantico or anywhere else. “Quantico is the crossroads of the Marine Corps,” said England, “and this prayer center will help educate many about the Islamic faith, while it serves the Islamic community here.”

Educate? Did he say ‘Educate?’ Yes, he did. Why would he say that? Does he believe the Marines need to be educated? They are not stupid. Maybe he meant to say ‘indoctrinated’ and didn’t have the guts to say it.

“Today more than 4,000 Muslim Americans are proudly serving to preserve freedom,” he continued. “Their service continues a long and noble tradition.” He traced that service back to World War One. Did he mean Gallipoli? Maybe he didn’t read the fine print on the Islamo-fascist contract on America. If he had he would have harkened back to when Mohammed the Mariner sailed the Ocean Blue. That’s right: Mohammed, not Columbus. The Muslims were here first. It says so in the Arab World Studies Notebook, a textbook that is used in schools throughout the United States and Canada. It says Muslims discovered America in 889!

It’s all down there in black and white: Muslims discovered America. It doesn’t say how—maybe a strong nor’easter and a dozen Allahu akbars took them across the Sargasso Sea and the Bermuda Triangle to Allah’s country. They prospered in the New World. They taught the Indians how to rotate crops, refrained from wiping out the buffalo and married dusky Indian maidens. Their sons became great chiefs and Indian civilization achieved its Golden Age on the North American   continent under their benevolent leadership. It took Peter DiGangi, a genuine Algonquin Indian, five years to get this nonsense removed from the textbook. Apparently the more outrageous the lie, the more difficult it is to remove.

Audrey Shabbas, author and editor of the Arab World Studies Notebook, couldn’t understand how the misinformation got into ‘her’ textbook. “It is not, nor has it ever been, our intention to spread lies or untruths,” she said. This is not the firsts time Ms Shabbas has had this problem. She is not alone.

In Knowledge of Islam in America, Azizah Y. al-Hibri, a professor of law at the University of Richmond, suggested that two of Thomas Jefferson’s slaves, Jupiter and Sally Hemmings were Muslims. It is assumed that Muslims slaves were more literate and were more likely to become household slaves than Christians or animists. It is further assumed by al-Hibri, and no doubt by Ms Shabbas, that Ole Jup and Sally introduced Jefferson to the wonders of Islam. Sure, and it was the stable-hand at the KO Corrall that taught Opie Taylor about Tex Ritter and Buck Jones. What a lucky boy! Jefferson was a Deist, had his own copy of the Qur’an, knew what “Allahu akbar” meant—he had read Tom Paine—and warred on the Barbary pirates. He was no dhimmi.

As of August 2007, 1,380,082 men and women were on active duty in the US Armed Services. The number of Muslims serving in the US Army was estimated at 10,000. More Muslims served in the Waffen SS during World War Two than are on active duty in the US Army today.

The record is grim: Sergeant Hasan Akbar tossed a grenade into a tent in Kuwait, killing two officers and wounding fourteen others. He did it to “prevent Muslim women from being raped.” James Yee, a Muslim chaplain was charged with sedition, aiding the enemy, spying and espionage while administering to the needs of the prisoners at Guantanamo Naval Base. The charges were later reduced to ‘mishandling classified information.’ Sergeant Karim Iraq deserted in Georgia. Anti-American and anti-Semitic notes were found in his backpack. Sergeant Abdullah Webster refused to serve in Iraq because he didn’t want to kill Muslims; he would kill Christians but not coreligionist. He was court-martialed. Hassan Abujihad, a sailor on the USS Benfold, sent e-mails praising the attack on the USS Cole. He is suspected of providing information to terrorists groups. Ryan Anderson, a recent Muslim convert, attempted to aid terrorists.

No other racial, religious or ethnic group has this record. It is more than enough to raise questions. Muzammil Siddiqi, former president of the Islamic Society of North America and a frequent guest at White House dinners, is opposed to Muslims serving in the US Military. “Islam,” he said, “will not allow a Muslim to be drafted by non-Muslims to defend concepts, ideologies and values other than those of Islam.” Mohamed Elmasry, president of the Canadian Islamic Congress said, “Muslims serving in the American Army are fellow patriots.” Should one look a gift horse in the mouth? In this case—indeed! Elmasry has also said, perhaps in the afterglow of 9/11, that all Israeli men over the age of 18 were legitimate targets for suicide bombers. 

Hyperbole? Doublespeak? Taqiyya? Take your pick. 

The number of American-Muslims who would prefer Sharia Law to the US Constitution is significantly larger than the number of German and Italian-Americans who preferred fascism to democracy, Hitler and Il Duce to FDR in World War Two. Muslim-Americans who serve honorably and loyally in the US Military should be commended, but the percentage that would harm the US  (even if less than one percent) is too large to be ignored. Few Muslims, anywhere in the world were whole-heartedly engaged in the war on fascism in the ‘30s and ‘40s.

This wreath-laying charade is an attempt on the part of certain Muslim groups to raise the status of the handful of Muslims that served in World War Two to that of Audie Murphy and the battered bastards of Bastogne. There aim is an Islamic America and a new Caliphate.

American owes more to Audie and the Bastogne bastards and to Washington and Grant and Sherman and Pershing and Pat Tillman than to any Muslim that has ever lived and that includes Mohammed.
