Feeding the Demon

The Lebanon donor conference in Stockholm has
raised more than $1 billion in pledges of new money to help with
the rebuilding of Lebanon. But rebuilding concrete structures is
not the same thing as laying the foundations of a durable peace.
And we all know that without destroying the Islamist terrorist
networks in Lebanon, there is no chance for a durable peace to
gain ground in the region.
It is critical to realize that any serious and
sincere plan to rebuild Lebanon has to have a mechanism to
dislodge the Islamist fascist networks who have been keeping the
Middle East in turmoil for decades and who caused the latest
destruction in Lebanon in the first place. Without removing the
destructive factors from the region, the billions of dollars
will only reconstruct the buildings, roads and other concrete
infrastructure to be destroyed again in another war as it does
not have the facility to lay the foundation for the stability
that was once the trait of the neighborhood?
Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Siniora said that
his country had been “torn to shreds” by the war and aid
agencies estimate that millions of dollars are urgently needed
to help Lebanon back to its feet after Hezbollah imposed this
war on it. Nobody can deny that Lebanon needs reconstruction but
the question that needs to be satisfied is who should pay for
it.
Shouldn’t it be the responsibility of the
provocateurs to foot this enormous bill?
Without first assigning responsibility for the
war that caused so much death and destruction, any
reconstruction will only serve as an invitation to future
instability and destruction. Any money spent on reconstruction
of Lebanon without cleansing the region of the present day
barbarians will only sow the seeds of future wars.
The first and the foremost responsibility of the
international community is to identify the obvious culprits and
try them in the international court of justice. Once the
responsibility of causing the war is clearly assigned it will
only be a matter of formality to make the criminals pay for the
reparations. The world owes it to itself to stop playing the
game of naiveté and act responsibly. The criminals must be made
to pay for the reconstruction not just in Lebanon but in Israel
too.
Wars are caused by fascist minds. They result in
devastation, death and destruction. And so long as there are
fascist minds, the world will remain hostage to a never ending
cycle of violence. The stench of death in the air and the smoke
of uncertainty rising from the smoldering rubble in Lebanon is
the latest manifestation of this barbarian mind at play in the
Middle East. And now that there is a break in the hostilities,
the world has to prove to the citizens of the international
community that it is serious in working for a permanent peace
and stability in the region.
The dignity of the Lebanese people can only be
restored if they are liberated from the clutches of the agents
of foreign powers. The Lebanese can only live in peace if the
world can support and strengthen the hands of the government of
Lebanon to be able to exert its authority over its territories.
And this can be done only by making it impossible for the
fascist government like Iran and Syria to continue to supply the
weapons to their proxy, Hezbollah. That’s why, until such time
that the world can come up with a plan to implement such a
control, Israel must continue its air and sea blockade of
Lebanese ports and other points of entries so that Hezbollah is
not re-armed again.
A permanent peace can not be established in
Lebanon so long as the provocateurs, Iran and Syria and agent
provocateur, Hezbollah, are allowed to feel that they can
continue to play havoc with the lives of the innocent civilians
with impunity. According to Morton A. Klein, National President,
Zionist Organization of America, “The United Nations Security
Council Resolution 1701 (UNSCR 1701) on the hostilities between
the Lebanese Islamist terrorist group, Hezbollah, and Israel is
a setback in the war on terror. It rewards Hezbollah and does
not disarm it, thus ensuring future hostilities. It also fails
to even name, much less penalize, Iran and Syria for sponsoring
Hezbollah’s aggression and terrorism against Israel. It thus
imposes no sanctions or other measures against these states if
they continue to fund and supply Hezbollah. In short, it sends
the message that arming terrorists not only incurs no price from
the civilized world, but that it pays and pays well in advancing
their agenda.”
What is being described as a ceasefire in Lebanon
is in fact just a cessation in firing as the instigator of the
war – Hezbollah - remains intact and armed. Its image is
enhanced and status has gained new heights in the eyes of the
Muslim street. No saner mind has any doubt that there will be
another round of fighting. And the voices emanating from
Hezbollah camp confirm this premise. During an interview,
Hezbollah representative in Iran Muhammad Abdullah Sif al-Din
was asked about Hezbollah’s military situation after the war.
”Our situation is very good. The Israelis didn’t manage to
strike Hezbollah’s military command and our ability to launch
missiles,” he replied.
There is nothing strange in Hezbollah’s attitude:
never in its life, there has been a moment when it had suggested
the possibility of disbanding or disarming itself without
achieving its goal – the destruction of the Jewish State. This
is not the first time that the United Nations has made a demand
that it should disarm and allow the central government of
Lebanon to extend its sovereignty over areas that are in
Hezbollah’s control. But the Iran’s long arm has always ignored
the world body.
The fact that all throughout the history of the
U.N., the states using non-state entities to advance their
terrorist causes have never been brought to account for their
acts has created an environment in which states like Iran and
Syria and fascist networks like Hezbollah feel confident that
they can continue to hold the civilization a hostage to their
agendas.
That’s why Hezbollah’s representative showed no
respect for the U.N. Security Council resolutions. He said,
“From the perspective of the parliament and government in
Lebanon, Hezbollah is not a military militia, but a resistance
force. Therefore, the clause in resolution 1559 (calling on the
disarmament of armed militias – D.C.) can’t include Hezbollah.
The Lebanese agreed among themselves that Hezbollah’s disbanding
is an internal issue and should be solved among one another.”
Now the ball is in the court of the international
community to either use the opportunity to punish the states
that harbor and encourage terrorism and destroy networks like
Hezbollah that have been displaying their contempt for a
civilized way of life for a long time or pave the way for the
religious fascists to push the humanity, one final time, into an
abyss of darkness for good.
