AFP is reporting that bodies of a 15-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl were discovered on Friday in wasteland in the Esfandi area of Ghazni province in south central Afghanistan.

The provincial police chief Zorawar Zahid told AFP that they were investigating the motive for the attack, but witnesses who found the bodies told that the young couple were murdered probably because of romantic friendship.

"Their bodies and faces were burnt by acid," said the police chief.

Acid attacks, especially on women, for un-Islamic behavior are highly prevalent in Afghanistan.

No one has claimed the bodies, still lying Ghazni hospital, which suggest that it was the result of honor killing. That's why neither side are claiming the bodies.

In December last year, a 17-year-old Afghan girl and her family were sprayed with acid, apparently because a marriage proposal to her was rejected.

The girl, Mumtaz, was seriously injured when several masked gunmen broke into her home in the northern city of Kunduz and sprayed acid in her face.

The latest acid-attack killings shows how Islam terrorizes those, who want to step on the liberal path in the formerly Taliban-ruled Afghanistan.
