New York Post’s Sean Delonas – who had depicted President Obama in 2009 as a chimpanzee, shot and killed by police for writing the stimulus bill which was slammed by many as racist and inflammatory – has this time (24 February 2012) published another controversial cartoon (see below), illustrating the Muslim siege of NYPD over its spying of certain Muslim targets. The cartoon portrays Muslims as terrorists, and suggests the NYPD spying project necessary.

Recent investigations into the New York police department by the Associated Press (AP) revealed widespread surveillance of Muslim businesses and mosques as well as Muslim student groups on campuses with cooperation from the CIA and partial funding from the White House.

Muslim terrorist, NYPD spying of Muslims

The AP revelation aroused Muslims into vigorous protests – attacking NY Mayor Bloomberg and demanding sacking of the director and other higher officials of NYPD. A caption on the cartoon read: “Hello, AP Press?... I’d Like to Register a Complaint against the NYPD for Spying on Us.

Mayor Bloomberg defended the spying program, while NYPD was unapologetic about conducting the surveillance program.
